DealerRater Single Sign-On

As of April 10, 2023, DealerRater is utilizing Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality in partnership with CARS, Inc. for all dealer logins. What this means is that dealers can now use the same username and password for all DealerRater, Cars.com and Dealer Inspire login pages.

What is Single Sign-On?

Single Sign-On, or SSO, is the process of authenticating a user against a set of credentials that can be shared amongst several applications. CARS, Inc. has embarked on an SSO strategy for its dealer-facing applications, including DealerRater's Dealer Panel, Cars.com's Dealer Dash and Dealer Inspire's Metal and Prizm. The goal is that once a user is logged into one of these applications, they can transition to any of the other applications by simply clicking a link, and they won’t have to login again.

How does this impact me if I already have an account?

If you already have a login to any dealer-facing Cars.com or Dealer Inspire applications, you don't need to do anything. The next time you go to DealerRater and click "Dealer Log In", you'll simply be asked to "Login" which will redirect you to a new login page where you can enter your Cars.com or Dealer Inspire credentials. The login page will look a bit different than before.

What if I don't have a login or am unsure if I do?

If you don't have an existing Cars.com or Dealer Inspire login or aren't sure if you do you'll need to enter your email address on this page.

We'll do the hard work for you - if we recognize your email as an existing account, you will be automatically redirected to the page where you can log in (don't know you're password? follow the "forgot password" flow on that page).

Suppose we don't recognize your email as an existing account. In that case, we will automatically create the account for you and send you an email prompting you to create a password (sending the email is necessary to verify that you are the owner of the email address submitted!).

Why is this change necessary?

It will make navigating between the various back-end interfaces across all CARS, Inc. brands seamless for mutual customers and reduce the number of logins dealers need to create. The technical application used to manage SSO for CARS, Inc. also requires more secure passwords than we were using before, which provides an added layer of security.

What if I don't have or don't need a Cars.com or Dealer Inspire login?

No problem - it's certainly not required. You'll still be required to update your DealerRater credentials for the security benefits mentioned above. Should you ever purchase a Cars.com or Dealer Inspire product that allows you to utilize one of their applications, you won't need to create a new account at that point.
